Challenge
“We’re very heavy duty here,” says Teri Bennett, the JHHS Lead Interior Designer. “In some of the main areas of the Hospital, there can be 20,000 people walking through in a day.” To determine which flooring products could truly meet the needs of JHHS, Bennett developed and conducted the Johns Hopkins Sustainable Flooring Test.
She had 15 flooring products installed in one of the busiest corridors of the Hospital. Over the course of 3 months, the flooring was subjected to heavy daily traffic and cleaning. Bennett analyzed the floors’ performance, safety and ease of maintenance.
Solution
Throughout the test, “Paradigm by Mannington Commercial did beautifully,” says Bennett. “It did so well that it is pretty much our first choice for any sheet vinyl project.” Bennett has since used Paradigm across JHHS, including the Skip Viragh Outpatient Building, the Johns Hopkins Breast Center and many office suites. Bennett confirms, “Paradigm has lived up to its test performance.”
